Death penalty Empty Death penalty

Post by Just_Smile Sat Oct 23, 2010 2:24 pm

I'm just wondering how you guys think about death penalty..

We spent a few lessons on school about it, and I think my point of view kinda changed. First I didn't know I found it positive or negative, but now I don't really see the point anymore..

If we kill these murderers, we become murderers ourselves right ? And it must be horrible for the family. I understand people are angry, I'd be the same. I just don't think this is the best solution.
It's not only about murderers, but about other people too ; women who are cheating their man (even when they have no real proof) and even thieves. When your family is hungry you won't let them starve.

And I was shocked when I heard CHILDREN get excecuted in Iran and other countries. There was even a country (I forgot which one) who killed boys of 15 years old and 9 years old girls (women are less worthy of course).

Here in Texas, the death penalty is used to full force. If you murder one person, unless under the conditions of manslaughter or self defense, you are immediately put on death row. As Ron White said, "You kill someone is Texas, we will kill you back."

Not sure about other crimes, but the system scares me sometimes.

i approve of it as long as there is enough evidence against them to convict them guilty...why should i as a taxpayer have to pay to feed them the rest of their lives in jail??

There were some investegations about the costs of an execution. It costs much more then letting them live the rest of their lifes in jail.
And having innocent men getting killed or waiting for it, really scares me. There have been several cases. Sometimes they even lock a person in without any evidence. Or unfair trials.

Plus most cases are about poor or black people who can't afford a good lawyer. So they end up being killed... This can't be fair, right ?

I'm not for it or against it really. It's really up to the judical system and my word won't mean shit unless I'm a member of the court or the jury and given I've yet to have jury duty, my opinion on the matter doesn't mean dick. I'm not too crazy about killing people for what they did though, I'd rather them rot in jail for their crime than get the easy way out and be murdered. Plus I think I too have also heard about the executions sucking up the tax payers money than letting them live the rest of their lives in jail which is a pretty surprising fact but then again you gotta think, just giving them 3 square meals and things to do (Exercise and whatnot) is nothing than if you're on death row. You gotta get a coffin, gotta pay for the chemicals for the lethal injection and the massive electric bill for the chair, it seems more likely. Plus the whole "Last Meal" thing, prisoners go nuts with what they want like 2 porterhouse steaks and like a 5 gallon tub of ice cream so that's more money you've gotta waste for these guys.

Did you guys now that the death penalty is the punishment for DUI's in Romania?

Harsh but effective.
I sadistically approve.

Chad Kroeger would be screwed, he's not allowed in the States anymore because of an outstanding DUI record.

i believe in an eye for an eye method, the death penalty isn't harsh enough nowadays, but I do think you need a ton of evidence before killing them

I am for it. Because we have such a large prision system, it takes money out of other government programs...and, oh look, I am employed by said government. So, the money that we're spending on the jails and how we support it, we could be spending it on something else, like more F-22s, or something that can protect my brothers-in-arms from IEDs.

Hell, something like Gamer would be effective, too. They want to kill each other, let them, just make it like the gladator games. Provide me with some entertanment.

And before any of you jump on my case about this, know that I mean every word. I hate the fact that if someone that thinks that they don't have anyother choice, that they think its ok to break the law. I didn't have much of a choice when I dropped out of collage. My mom made it simple. Get a job, go back to collage, go into the military, or get out of her house. Everyone has a choice.
