Games and their influence on kids

Post by Just_Smile on Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:30 am

I was just wondering what your opinions are of the influence of games on kids.

People often say that games can make kids 'evil', because they'd get used to violence.

I heard scientists did some experiment with the results that it isn't true. They say people can vent on the games, instead of doing it to other people. I think this is true. It's hard for me to believe the other thing, because parents should teach children what's good and wrong. Once they learn that, I think it would be very hard to change opinions. ( although it would be wrong to give hyper- violent games to a seven years old xD )

If they have no 'base' and have never be taught these things, I do think it's possible that games have a bad influence. ( films too )

Also ; in my eyes there's a big difference between 'fake blood' ( like in bad horrors, games,... ) and the real thing they ( sadly enough ) show every evening on the news. I think it's disturbing and disrespectful to the families and victims to do that, and it's generally accepted.

I think its bull that games are to blame for violence. I have been playing games my whole life, and never had the desire to go steal someones car, or beat prostitutes or rape people. It's called bad parenting. Keep your kids away from those games if you don't want that influence.

Zack said it well. Parents are to blame for the violent behavior in kids, and the responsible thing to do is to not let the kid play those games at all.

Let my buddy Nate explain...

What people need to realize is that a movie and a game are fake. Saying games are the reason behind violence is a load of shit when, like everyone else said, parents and schools and homes have been teaching kids HORRIBLE things. But games can be pretty awful. Lets look at GTA, I mean that game is all about blowing the heads off of others but no one pays much attention to the back story. GTA4, Niko (however you spell his name) doesn't do crime because he likes it. He does it because it's his only option in the constant shit storm he's been through. People ignore story and look at the bulk. Which is violence.

Bully is another game like that. I mean, when it first came out, parents went nuts because they thought it was about being a Bully. The story is that the main character is fighting bullies and the joke is the school's name is Bullworth. So it's a bit of play on words. Movies and shows can be awful. I mean, I can't play a game where you play a cartoon dragon toasting bad guys but my parents can watch a television show that's a soft core porn with vampires eating each other in the most gruesome way possible?

Spyro & True blood right?

Video games are an easy scapegoat to those who know nothing about them... >.>
