Ragna the Bloodedge - Patrick Seitz
I'm not a fan of Patrick Seitz and wasn't very impressed with his role as Ragna the Bloodedge. He tends to get a little too low-toned with this character, and plays him as some form of goof when there's a semi-serious line to be spoken, and I just didn't care for this voice. Ragna's character description as I interpreted, is a strongly determined man with a burning passion to get what he is after, yet has a tendency to be soft-hearted at times. Soft-hearted doesn't always mean goofy, however, even though Ragna has a sense of humour, Seitz didn't strike the chord correctly when Ragna happens to crack a joke. In battle, he isn't very disappointing, but could be better, especially when he yells. 3/10

Jin Kisaragi - David Vincent
Disappointing role in many areas, most notely the insane bursts of emotion Jin has constantly. Vincent is very breathy when he voices roles that are serious, so he usually speaks in a whisper or a growl with little effort devoted into letting the character actually speak clearly. A very common, and undoubtedly annoying trait to have in this career, and since that is all Vincent applies into Jin, it gets quite unbearable to listen to him when Jin is serious. Jin, does however has insane bursts of emotion at times, and even then, Vincent did a very poor job. Whenever Ragna is around jin, Vincent makes him sound like a spoiled child instead of a man who has no heart when it comes to killing people. Even evil laughs are sub-par at best, since Jin is over-confident in his ability and boasts his strength quite often, you expect to hear a most over-confident laugh, but Vincent applied a very squealish and very unconvincing laugh when he is supposed to sound confident. 2/10

Noel Vermillion - Cristina Valenzuela
Unbearable, in almost all fields. Since Noel's personality trait has her mostly lost and confused 24/7, Valenzuela should have made her sound something like a lost child. Instead, we get a bit of an over-determined teenager who is just confused sounding. The only thing I considered a decent part of her role was when Noel becomes emotionally unstable whenever v-13 is around, or when she loses her Bolverk. Her scream is very convincing whenever Noel is in pain, but since Noel is like that a lot, you hear it constantly and pierces your ears at many times. 4/10

Rachel Alucard - Mela Lee
Not sure how to judge this role. Rachel is in one word, a bitch, and Lee got that down to the tee. however, when Rachel is being sympathetic, a rare occasion, Lee keeps her sounding like a spoiled brat, which is somewhat unproffessional depending on how you view the character to be feeling at the time. I took it as a disappointment, because Rachel does show sympathy at times, especially when she warns Ragna not to fight Terumi, you would figure her to sound worried, or maybe even sad, but instead, more spoiled brat. 5/10

Taokaka - Tara Strong
Lovable and annoying at the same time, which is what Taokaka is an embodiment of. Strong has the ability to fit her voice to basically match any character perfectly, even if you end up hating the sound of the voice. This is possibly and sadly the best role in the game, but this is what voice actors should be achieving, to fit the character perfectly, even if people will end up hating the character. 10/10

Iron Tager - Jamieson Price
A pleasant voice to listen to, but it falls short in certain points. Makes it difficult to really judge this voice, since I love Price's voice when he's speaking, but I need to be proffessional instead of personal. shoving personal views aside, this role was still well done. The only times I thought he could have put more or less effort is when Tager is feeling disappointed or sad, rare as that is. Price has the tendency to overact in some roles, and Tager is sometimes no exception. 8/10

Litchi Faye-Ling - Lauren Landa
Not the most impressive voice, by far. Landa basically has Litchi trapped in a point of realization, making her sound surprised or lost in thought all the time. Her pronunciation of Arakune is also a brutal realization that apparently the directors didn't care what the character was saying, so maybe it isn't all Landa's fault this performance was so bad. 3/10

Arakune - Spike Spencer
Hard to give a good review on this performance when Arakune's lines are distorted and chopped, but I would say that Spike Spencer did a good job otherwise. There are parts that Arakune does speak normally in hidden scenes and in his arcade ending in Calamity Trigger, and Spencer got the part of mad scientist down quite nicely. As the creature Arakune, they probably had Spencer record in a chopped dialogue, instead of going in and cropping the audio themselves, leaving the effect of effort to chop dialogue behind and somewhat disappointing the performance. But, overall, Spike Spencer did a wonderful job on Arakune. 8/10

Bang Shishigami - Tony Oliver
Lovable, booming and radiating self-confidence. Exactly how you would imagine the great ninja to sound. Even in battle, it's a hoot listening to Oliver's heroic and goofball battle cries. Of course, with such a goofy role, comes the trait of annoyance when he's speaking at long intervels, however, I can't blame him for that, Bang has the personality of over-confidence, which will annoy players anyway, but his voice fits the character perfectly, and makes it an adventure playing through Bang's story. 9/10

Carl Clover - Michelle Ruff
Tough to say, Carl has a questionable personality, he's more of an enigma than an actual child. So Michelle was expected to play a determined, yet careless role of a small, but mature boy. She didn't hit the mark exactly as I would figure it, putting a little too much effort when Carl happens to realize something and makes him sound a little too cocky when he shouldn't, but that's just my opinion. Not a bad role, but just questionable. 5/10

v-13/λ-11 - Cristina Valenzuela
A much better performance than Noel, Valenzuela is very decent at monotone and emotionless. Given that neither λ nor v have personalities to speak of, this role was quite perfect. 10/10

Haku-men - David Vincent
Exactly like the Jin performance, except he is stuck with Vincent's breathy and serious acting. 2/10

Hazama/Yuuki Terumi - Erik Davies
Since this is basically two seperate roles, it's very tough to give a good review on this role. Erholtz as the careless and bossy Hazama is decent and you get the impression that Hazama is quite careless and somewhat of a goofball. Yet as Terumi, Davies flat flat on his face, walking away knowing only his evil laugh is spot-on. Davies gets extremely guttural when playing Terumi, making him sound like a playground bully instead of a misanthropic nihilist with a plot. Since the roles coincide constantly, he has to switch voices on the balls of his feet, so he has a little excuse. 6/10

Tsubaki Yayoi - Julie Ann Taylor
Right at decent, but Taylor seems to get her roles confused sometimes. Tsubaki is a bit like Hazama, switching between two emotions often, but unlike Davies, Taylor seemed to know what Tsubaki should sound like. Tsubaki switches between extremely caring and sympathetic to being an undying dog of the military. Taylor got both roles down quite well, but she seemed to mix her emotions up at awkward times, making Tsubaki sound careless when she should be sympathetic. 7/10

μ-12 - Cristina Valenzuela
Much like the v-13 role, Valenzuela placed almost no emotion into this character, but she did so without being monotonic. A very well done role, except for sometimes she would place emphasis on a word that would end a scene or a simple sentence. 8/10

Makoto Nanaya - Cindy Robinson
Bit of a strange role, but Robinson was half decent at it. Makoto has a very jumpy personality, being utterly hyper one moment to being sympathetic and caring the next. Robinson most likely got confused, because 90% of the time, I heard the sympathetic role when I was hearing a supposedly hyper line. 5/10

Valkenhayn R. Hellsing - Doug Stone
Perfect, Stone did a fine job of covering all of Valkenhayn's personality traits, or lack thereof. Valkenhayn is Rachel's lapdog (no pun intended), and would serve her to the death, and Stone played every bit of emotion he could into...well, a butler. That being said, Stone was also able to switch emotions on the spot when Rachel or Valkenhayn were threatened, making him sound convincingly intimidating and defensive. Sad to say that Valkenhayn doesn't make much of an appearance in Calamity Trigger, but is playable in Continuum Shift as a DLC exclusive. I haven't heard his English voice in battle yet, so this spot will be left unfinished for now.

Platinum the Trinity - Laura Bailey
(have yet to encounter this character in the story, will do later.)

Relius Clover - Travis Willingham
Overall, unconvincing and not intimidating in the slightest. Relius rarely makes an appearance outside of Carl's story for spoiler reasons, and doesn't leave much of an impact due to Willingham's hammy performance. 2/10

Dr. Kokonoe - Julie Ann Taylor
Pretty much on the spot. Kokonoe is simply a heartless, foul-mouthed scientist and Taylor did a wonderful job of making me hate her and love her at the same time whenever something goes unaccording to Kokonoe's plans. 9/10

Jubei - Kirk Thornton
Quite possibly my favorite role in the game. Jubei makes few appearances in Calamity Trigger, but is involved with almost everyone's story in Continuum Shift, and I loved every minute he was on screen. Thornton is the most credited voice actor in America, and I can plainly see why. His voice is not only charming, but it is intimidating and unutterably convincing whenever Jubei is angered or annoyed. Thorton makes you believe Jubei is a true hero who's rather forget his past, but is willing to lend a hand to those willing to make a future. 10/10

Torakaka - Kate Higgins
A very strange role to say the least. Torakaka's design was ripped off of Taokaka's design, so she has this huge smile on her face whenever she isn't saying something serious. However, Higgins played her to be something of a Lust figure and has her voice to be charming and seductive whenever you would suppose her to act much like Taokaka. Sort of a one-trick pony to this role. 6/10

Nago - Ezra Weisz
Annoying and most typical voice for a subordinate. Thankfully, this creature only speaks up rarely and only hangs around Rachel. 2/10

Gii - Cindy Robinson
Same as Nago, but a bit more bearable given the creature's cute appearance. The voice somehow makes you laugh whenever Gii badmouths whoever is opposing Rachel. 4/10

Takamagahara - No Credit Given
I know that Crispin Freeman was involved with one of these roles, and maybe Dave Wittenburg, another was a woman that I can't identify for the life of me. All three were pretty convincing and well done, so I'll leave it at that. 9/10

What do you mean by strict and not strict? I give them all a good balance, and all of them get credit where it is due.

OK, I'm bewildered at the moment... going by what Arc system works is saying now, the guy playing hazama at the time was Erik Davies (Cid Raines FF13) and his new actor is Doug Erholtz

EDIT: I've looked high and low, and so far Doug Erholtz is Hazama. No real word on Bang's VA for now, but If this is all I can gather, then Disregard it for now...

Apparently Erik Davies IS the one who played Cid Raines and Doug is nowhere to be seen on XIII's credits.

I just find it strange that his tone had changed sooooooo sharply...

I'll be editing the page soon, to accomodate EXTEND.

Erik Davies is indeed the original Hazama from CT to CS, but was replaced by Doug Erholtz for EXTEND and Spike Spencer for CS2. Seeing as no official English credits are in the actual game, most fans just guessed who the voice was, and apparently Doug Erholtz was the popular vote. That, or he auditioned early for EXTEND and fans got wind of it and forgot completely about Erik Davies. Really sad.
