Well, it's that time. I'm not going to elaborate here because I blog about this shit, so just read up if you want. So for the three of us who are 'active', spit yours out and such.

2013 'Awards' Empty Re: 2013 'Awards'

Post by Archangel Fri Dec 14, 2012 9:29 am

this is a tough year for me, as I haven't had time to pick up AC3 or Halo 4, both games that could win awards from me. I think it has been somewhat of a disappointing year honestly, at least from my perspective, maybe thats just bc I don't have the time to play much. Anyways I will give a full list later on, when it is justified for me to do so, all I can tell you right now is that ME3 is my GOTY at this point, regardless of the ending.

2013 'Awards' Empty Re: 2013 'Awards'

Well I'll break it down into genre's I care about of games I've played. Not gonna take this super serious but will just jot down games I do believe need special mention.

BEST CONSOLE SURVIVAL HORROR
Zombi U - Granted it may not be perfect like Silent Hill is but Zombi U for me successfully replicated the high tension's of being alone in a zombie torn london. Starts of simplistic enough but this fight for surivial does begin to get to you as your radar starts acting up, your steady supplies keep running out and the zombies keep getting stronger.

BEST HANDHELD SURVIVAL HORROR
Resident Evil Revelations - Basically all the best bits of 4 with actual eerire tension, ruined sadly by some cutaway action sections but for horror on the go this is a good game to turn too. Basically if there was a game that restore the resi reputation this was it from 2012.

BEST CONSOLE KART RACER
Sonic All Stars Transformed - With Sonic's big rival holding the formula tightly to his chest for a good kart racer it was kind of surprising to see SEGA pull of a Kart racer that may be better then Mario Kart. The game emphasises correct use of boosts, drifts and stunts rewarding a skilled player with a much needed advantage in any race. While the items may sadly be common place (blowfish from the game...nothing) they are certainly balanced (having the best item won't mean squat if you can't use it well) and completely randomised (so no back place hogging for better stuff). Brilliant both online and off as single player packs a punch full of prizes (demanding completionist's to play on expert if they wish to 100%)

BEST CONSOLE PARTY GAME
Nintendo Land - If I haven't made it clear I hate party games...with a passion. That said the Wii U Premium pack bundled Nintendo Land is a joy to behold. The variety of challenges will easily entertain for hours (played all the competitive multi-player games on Christmas just gone with the family and I can easily say it was the highlight of the day for me). And even those playing alone aren't singled out as 9 of the 12 games can be played on your own (in total 3 competitive multi, 3 multi-player (with solo included) and 6 entirely solo games) and some games will start of easy and calming but will gradually pick up the place until you sweat over boosting your score or cry in rage at sudden defeat. All in all highly enjoyable.

BEST OWN GENRE
The own Genre is a bit of a cheat as it sadly has to be claimed by a game which is either so unique it can't fall under a specific one thus making it a genre in it's own right. For this category I will have to put forward Borderlands 2.

What can be said as it's witty, enjoyable, breathtaking and highly addicitive. There aren't really any words or any amount of detail I can use to accurately display my affection for this game I just loved it to bits. Perhaps because like the first one it encouraged gamers to work together instead of being ass holes to each other online to face a worse foe then themselves, the game itself. Until someone steals the rarest loot from a boss without telling another player, then it goes back to backstabbing hatred. With lots of challenge and lots of fun if you missed this game I feel only regret for you.

Didn't realize that my link for the said topic in regards to my 2012 gaming session wasn't entirely correct. I edited it and fixed it for those who care. lol. But other than that.... on to 2013 gaming endeavors... honestly, not a whole lot in my trajectory since life is about to get REALLY busy here.

Not THAT mysterious!

Interested in: Raiden Rising and FFXIII 'Lightning Returns' (for the sake of closure in an abhorrent sequel called FFXIII-2).
