Re: YEAH
No trolling for this topic unfortunetly. Just trying to get us back in the habit of talking of FF, have not been paying attention to the games until a few days ago.

Re: YEAH
I've gotten back into VI, still haven't gotten very far, but I'm at least building up some conversational experience.
It is sad how the FF part of the FF FORUM died. >_>

Re: YEAH
Right now I'm actually playing Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX right now and it's really good. I played a few of the Tactics for GBA and whatnot and they sucked ass but this is a real gem.

Re: YEAH
Final Fantasy Tactics needs to revise its own tactics if it EVER wants to live up to the final fantasy name.

You know what, the only FF I haven't even completed was the Gamecube, Crystal Chronicles. It just didn't hold my interest

Re: YEAH
God Crystal Chronicals was a disaster. Yeah sure, a multiplayer FF and you build the characters to do whatever but everything about the game was just such crap.

I beat it... (Spoilers i guess)
But I made the ill fortuned decision of using but one character all game... and then trying to build the others on year 12... Needless to say Nemo's character was the only one to hold a candle to mine (He's that pro y'all)
So when I attempted a two player run-through of the Final level Mount Velenge.
(This game adds difficulty for every character active) And having only one kinda prepared character with a half prepared one (Without spell fusion!?!?!?!?) after an hour of struggles, we make it to the boss (Miraculously no deaths yet)
The Meteor parasite
stage 1: Tough but only took 10 min
Stage 2: Really tough, and Nemo died three times (12 Min)
Stage 3: OMGWTFBBQ! THis one killed me 5 times and Nemo 7 (Thank you God for full life and curaga) 15 min
Inside the chalice
This is the part that made me really love the game. The story came full circle, and except for two annoying enemies, It was joyous. No deaths. 10 min
Raem: F*** D*** this guy, I pulled out the pheonix downs here... Surprisingly we made it with three deaths each, but it was hard. 20 min
Raem Memoria: ......................no, just no, Me: 15 deaths, Nemo: 20 deaths
I swear this guy made penance, emerald weapon, and sephiroth, all look like kittens.
ARGHHHHH 1 hour
Meteor parasite 4:
Lol one shot... 5 sec

i've played:
1 (gave up after 5 mins... had no idea where i was going)
2 (same deal as 1) (i don't count 1 & 2 usually cuz i didn't do anything on them)
7 (Forth FF i played..... wasn't very impressed)
10 (first one i've played... really like it)
10-2 (second FF i played.... my mum liked the game.. used to watch me play it... ask me to get the video for 1000 words up so she could watch it...)
12 (third FF.... only completed it once)
13 (fifth FF.... still play it now)
i have played some of the others... (e.g. Dirge of Cerberus, Rings of Fate (? think that was the name), GBA tactics)........ i think thats it)

Re: YEAH
We've started a trend, I see..
1: loved it, only problem is they give minute hints as to where your next objective is.
2: gave up after five minutes, characters were boring and the password thing drove me nuts.
3: Got stuck against Salamander and haven't touched it since.
4: very first FF, awesome, one of those games I can play many times and not get bored. Of course, I need to beat it before I can really say that. >_>
5: I liked it, but I really didn't get far, levelling up my classes was fun, but I really got annoyed with how long it took.
6: haven't gotten very far, no opinion yet.
7: first played recently, and as far as the Fantasy goes, it wasn't very impressive, I felt like I was playing a far fetched version of Life: The Game. However, it is still an FF, so it has it's moments of sheer awesomeness.
8: haven't played and don't plan to.
9: fourth FF, epic, only beef is the slow ATB bar.
10: second FF, fave for many reasons, mostly the story.
12: I liked it, although I found many flaws. Mostly fighting bosses was like a freaking workout.

Re: YEAH
I- Don't hate or like. In the middle with this one. I hated the extreme difficulty if you've played the NES version of it. Agree with Nemo, you had no idea where to go but that's the fun of it because you had to guess where you go so it wasn't as linear as other games.
II- Worst in the series. Hate the characters, hate the leveling system and the story sucked. Music was good but that's it.
III- Lol another disaster. I forgot how far I got in the DS version but it wasn't worth my time.
IV- Good. I enjoyed IV a lot. "Spoony Bard" is all to say with this game.
V- Whole new appreciation for this. I enjoy it more than IV plus it has FF's greatest villain, GILGAMESH. The music is fantastic in this game.
VI- Second Favorite in the series. Story was good but what kept me going was the wide range of characters and shit to do for them. Gau would keep you busy for days (even though I can't stand him). The music is one of my favorites in the series.
VII- Third favorite. The characters were a mix of stereotypical and awesome. Cid was just the main reason I kept replaying and the Turks are the coolest characters in the series.
VIII- First FF I ever played, hate it to death. This game blows. The characters drove me nuts, *Insert Who Gives a Shit Villain* and the junction system is cheep and annoying.
IX- Favorite game of all time. Second FF to ever play. Love the art style, the soundtrack is amazing and the characters are fun and lovable.
X- Pretty good, not great. The voiceacting was attrocious.
XII- Hate. Not as much as VIII, III and II but I still hate it.
XIII- Awful awful awful. Not going to continue playing.
DoC- GARBAGE! This game is shit.
Crisis Core- Not bad, story is full of massive plot holes and who gives a shit character. Gameplay, pretty fun.
Dissidia- Crap. Could have been so much better.
Tactics (PSX)- Fucking awesome. The story and characters are so well done. May end up in my favorites depending on the ending.
Tactics Advance (GBA)- Lame. Doesn't compare to the PSX game.
II- Worst in the series. Hate the characters, hate the leveling system and the story sucked. Music was good but that's it.

Re: YEAH
Well best jump on the wagon with this
Proper titles
I - N/A
II - N/A
III - N/A
IV - N/A (but want to hunt it down, I've heard good things)
V - N/A
VI - N/A (same as IV, need to hunt it down)
VII - First one I've played, story was good and it was clever how throughout the game you where constantly told you had no chance against Seph, which really added the impact on the final boss. Still one of my favourites for side quests and mini games
VIII - Brilliant game with a decent storyline, easy as hell to rape though if you know how to junction (seriously, beat this with most of my characters at level 40, no sweat)
IX - Classic all round, great collection of characters, great battle system and a big ol world to explore.
X - What I think was the peak of FF, it had the nice shiny new graphics of the PS2 (which was the style back then ), wonderful interesting characters that I would have to try really hard to hate (even Seymour I felt sorry for...only slightly) a great tragic plot and a superb ending. Sidequests where slightly lacking but still a great game
XI - N/A
XII - N/A
XIII - The plot and the characters where great, the battle system and leveling up...meh it was ok but in terms of stuff to do this felt lacking. Sure as its been mentioned before I'm sure you have to grind to beat the game but I didn't have a sense of interaction and exploration as I did in some of the others. Really it just felt like this was made to have the one plot line and that was it, as I dont really count the missions as real sidequests. It also annoyed me that you couldn't really talk to NPC's or the other members of your party but rather just walked past them and heard a snippit of dialogue. Pretty graphics but fairly dull to me.
Spin offs
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII - Fairly decent game for the PSP, though suffers from the trade of sidequests for missions that XIII does. However it is more understandable for Crisis Core as it is only a handheld game. The comp changes to the series still annoy me (Cloud no longer being the ass who grew up bullying people to become tough for Tifa and just being the moaning b**ch he was in Advent Children (which from a timeline pov is more confusing)) except for the handing down of the Buster Blade, however it is still good all round. I recommend if you have a PSP to get it but if anyone reading this wanted to get into the Final Fantasy VII series it's not really the place to start.
Final Fantasy VII Dirge Of Cerburus - N/A
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children/Advent Children Complete - Ok not a game but is still part of the FF world. It's a good film and the Cinematics are beautiful (especially in HD) though there are too many subtle character changes I can't stand. For instance Reno no longer come across as a highly trained, cold and merciless hired hand but rather as a loveable goon (lets not forget Reno was more then happy to kill an entire sectors worth of people in midgar for Shinra). Tifa who used to keep the group in check seems like a weaker person. Cloud, well he's become depressed completely (though in fairness in Complete we learn its because he was feeling guilty for killing Denzels parents in the Sector 1 bombing (however in VII he knows he could have saved Aerith but continues in his efforts to stop Sephiroth (you can say Jenova cells but when he wakes up from his coma he still comes back to this conclusion)). The rest of the main party (minus Vincent) dont actually get enough screen time to judge but something about them doesn't feel right, especially Cid and Barret. Sephiroth just has this great campness to him now, this might be largely due to the english dub but it doesnt make him feel like a valid threat, plus his new plan is just daft. The only character who benefitted was Vincent, and that was mainly because he didnt get much development in the first game, Rufus still feels the same and although he is more for good you can tell theres a little bit of the shinra lust for power and manipulation inside him (he actually does try and manipulate both Cloud and Kadaj with fear (Cloud with the idea Sephiroth may return and what may happen if he does and Kadaj with the whereabouts of Jenovas head and what could have become of it)).
Final Fantasy X.2 - Where X was good .2 was not so, the story was ok and there was actually a great new addition with Paine but something about this game just made me want to finish it quick and be done with it.
Dissidia Final Fantasy - As a fighting game the plot is ok but compared to other FF's it lacks...bad. However this is made up for by Dissidia's main strengths, it's gameplay and RP elements. The fighting system is great and can be fun, annoying however that it is adhoc only and features no real online unless if you have adhoc party on your PS3 (if you have one) Combined with the basic rp elements like leveling up your character or equiping certain swords or armor to boost different stats and that makes a win win for me.

Re: YEAH
1- Loved it
2- I disagree with soooo many people here, but then again, I'm insane
3- Looked Meh to me.
4- Characters, plot and voices (DS) were good, but it was a bit short
5- I have a lot of hours invested on this one, love it
6- Bleh probably my least fav
7- The most popular in the world, its good but DOESN'T deserve ALL the hype it gets
8- Never really played, but the junctions seem pretty cheap
9- Maybe its because I didn't see much of it, but what i saw wasn't very entertaining
10- I have played maybe 30min worth of this game in my whole life and I know 87% of the plot (Thank you Nemo) This one was pretty good
11- MMO? I'll pass
12- 30min, and I know most of the story. Too many British people, but it was good
13- No clue
14- MMO again? i hope i can get around to this one eventually, it looks good
Spinoffs
Crisis Core: haters gonna hate, this one was great.
Dirge of cerberus: Looked BA, bt I never played it really (Seemed like DMC)
10-2: I'll be honest, just like 10 I know more than I'll ever play, but I fouced on the fact that they were all female. Hah good times
Advent Children- More haters, really doesn't deserve the criticism it gets. The Characters weren't much different at all
Dissidia- 300+ hours and still going, I loved everything except the chessboard gameplay
Get @ me haters... lol

Re: YEAH
^Fixed. btw, you know only about half the plot. The real spoiler of them game is... >_> ... <_< ...Auron is only 35 years old.
forget mah spinoffs.
Crisis Core: loved, but I can't play anymore for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time.
Dirge of Cerberus: Was fun till I found out that the replay value is totally out the window...
10-2: Story is not particularly worth commenting on, but the battles were fun. And Angra Mainyu is one of my favorite bosses.
AC: Doesn't really count, but I liked it, gave me the incentive to play VII, and after comparing the two, it feels like two different games. O_o
Dissidia: Battles and completion are really the only things that really kept me going. After reviewing the stories, it kind of threw off my perception of the original games.

Well since Master Nemo has made a topic to really go on what I wanted to do but to lazy to explain, this topic is locked. Feel free to copy/paste shit from here into the new topic so we don't have to look between two different topics for shit that's been said.
