Cid Raines
Good lord almighty, it's like a mirror match with this boss. I've tried maybe, three times to kill him and nothing seems to work after I get him down to about 40,000, then he starts using -ja spells all over the place. After that, it turns into an endless battle, he attacks, I heal, I attack, barely move the chain gauge, then he attacks again, then I'm forced to heal and while I'm doing that, he heals as well. I haven't gotten the Crystarium to full yet, and that might be my problem, but if anybody has advice, please help. :[
Re: Cid Raines
you cant fill the crystarium until you've beaten the game anyways. Use evened odds to inflict slow and curse on him and buff your party, delta attack is good, and when he defends go into relentless assault. Solidarity is good when you need to heal, keep up the pace and he will fall soon enough. Your party should be Lightning, Fang and Hope

Re: Cid Raines
It's what my party is, anyway. Lightning Fang, Sazh and Hope aren't fucking annoying.
What I meant by full Crystarium is getting it to the cap, which is what I always did before moving anywhere every chance I got. I just got lazy this time since you need 3,000 CP for one status increase and you only get 500 CP from Soviet-level beasts.

You must be the first person to not find that brat annoying, but I digress.
The whole CP jump/difficulty spike is one of the reasons why I don't feel like replaying XIII. If you get past Cid then I hope you're prepared to spend a lot of time grinding. Really and truly it's XIII's only fault, where as other FF titles had a balance between exploration and fighting (in other words you could kill a story boss on a slightly low level if you where willling to accept it would take longer (allowing you more time to dive into your settings and take this new world in (in fact I know some people see it as a extra challenge to beat a boss on a set level))) XIII seems dependent on you having to spend all you're time grinding so you can continue the story (although to be fair not really much to explore, there are missions. Lots and lots of missions if you like running back and forth to kill small groups of enemies but thats about it) and then having you lash out against a boss most of the time hoping for the best (most of the time at least). It's also more of a middle finger when you realise if you use one specific strat for any of the bosses then they are more or less a cake walk (the giant cactuar for example, as soon as I read the best way to beat it I just lather, rinsed and repeated the moves the entire match and eventually it was down).
However I digress (again) if I can recall how I beat him I'll let you know nemo.
Re: Cid Raines
I can't remember how I beat him. All I know is I kicked his ass after the second try. I know that doesn't help though. lol!

Re: Cid Raines
I actually really like Hope, his revenge on Snow is what keeps him going, and being at that age, it's understandable how he feels, plus he's just really likable to me. Snow's an arrogant moron and Vanille is just Vanille.
@RY, XIII is truly for pros. Even the guys on YouTube who did level 1 Critical Mode playthroughs of the Kingdom Hearts series say it's a challenge worthy of the title. Me, I'm not a hardcore gamer, but grinding I can do if, of course, the price is right. Level caps make no sense, though. >.<

@nemo, ya I hate Hope as well, sorry, he just annoyed me, I hope you get past Cid, but compared to some others in the game he really isn't all that bad like Ry said. When you get to Barthandelus and he's using a doom counter on you etc etc, it gets really frustrating, but just keep at it.

Re: Cid Raines
I always heard the Estrogen Squad were the best characters. Which means I'd have to use Vanille. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--
