Final Fantasy I
So I recently bought FFI for my iPhone for during slow times at work and I must say it's nostalgic purpose is entertaining. They changed the graphics too to surpass FFVI back in Snes so it's a lot more beareable.
They also have FFII on iTunes but I'll wait to beat FFI and give a good review. At any rate, to the old days... Here we go!

Re: Final Fantasy I
I played and beat Dawn of Souls not too long ago, it was my first time actually beating the game, and I wish I could've beaten it before playing any of the sequels. I may have been a WoL main in Dissidia, but it was still a fantastic game and I wish I could play it again, but my friend took his GameBoy back. :p
Re: Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy I has gotten 5 remakes, there's no difference other than the handheld it's on since the GBA version.
If I were you, I'd just find Dawn of Souls for GBA. It's only like 5-10$ and it's both games. The ipod versions are what? 7-10$? And you have to buy them separately. I would like to know how the touch screen/dial works for the game though.

Re: Final Fantasy I
I traded in my GBA LONG time ago... So yeah. But yeah like 8.99 don't bug me as long as it's a good enough game. FFI seems entertaining enough.
As for the touch screen controls, seems like it doesn't react with the thumbs as well as it does with the index finger. But it functions.
Drains the he'll out of my battery though.

My first final fantasy and it was on the NES.
I will probably love this game more than any other FF because of fan devotion

It's good to play the first game, see where current FF's have come from. Plus so people can learn to love the FF's that are not FINAL SCIENCE-FICTION.

Re: Final Fantasy I
yeah but i feel they toned down the difficulty too much compared to the old NES version. I played the PSP 06 remake and did a mental comparison, and the PSP version was simply...........too simple, i mean I beat the final boss, under level 70, without Excalibur or Masamune, and in the NES version you would have to be level 90+ with all the most awesome weapons just to even make a dent in him.

Re: Final Fantasy I
Lich is past the area where Vampire was, going deeper into the cavern of earth. Mount Gulg is near crescent lake.

Re: Final Fantasy I
That's the only flaw about FFI and all its remakes, it doesn't tell you anything about where to go, other than a few hints.
Anyone have a preferred class setup? It doesn't really matter what class you have, hell, you can beat it with four White Mages if you grind enough. I prefer to have a Fighter, Monk, Thief and a Red Mage.

Re: Final Fantasy I
My team consists of a Warrior, Black Mage, Monk and White Mage.
Slightly wishing I didn't pick the Monk as he is pretty crap.

Re: Final Fantasy I
He becomes the best character in the game around level 40, that's when his defense and strength skyrocket. Bare-handed, he can take down anything, and he hits a lot, too. If you cast HAste on him, he'll be your best character.
Re: Final Fantasy I
Haste, strength drink, saber and temper will make the monk hit close to 2000 by the end of the game
The monk is for people who play late game specialty.

Re: Final Fantasy I
Ahh fair do's, I currently have him on 29 and have casted Haste for a few tough battle but he still doesn't reach the damage my warrior is dealing out so far.
Also finished the trial...tower....thing. Going to wander around more to look for Lich.

Re: Final Fantasy I
Lich is in the Earth Cavern where you fought Vampyre, but is further down. You need some kinda item to get him to show up. Just so you know, he is the easiest of the four fiends. Kraken was the toughest for me, but Tiamat is a CLOSE second, Marilith took like...a minute. But none of them compare to Chaos, I can't figure out a strategy to even wound the bastard.

Re: Final Fantasy I
My party always was Warrior, Black and White Mages and a Monk. The Monk class is my favorite class and you're screwed without a healer in this game. Red Mage was one of the more bleh characters. It's balanced but it can never learn the best magic and can't equip the best weapons which is a must at the end game.
Monk is badass later in the game. Seriously, he can rape enemies in no time later on. In the beginning it's good to equip them with weapons but when you start getting later into the game, I'd actually say level 25ish, leave them barehanded.
An item you want is the Giant's Gloves I believe. I think you can get them in the Kraken's Lair. They cast Saber to the caster so since Warriors/Knights and Monks/Masters can't learn black magic, use that in battle to rip enemies to shreads. Theives/Ninjas I think can learn Saber but it's better not to waste MP and just use the Giants Gloves.
