Re: Ironic
*officially upstaged*
I don't really have the will to beat Freya, I did it for kicks, had the Boots of Prowess (cheat?) thing going and she hit me with Ether Strike and ended my confidence. Perhaps video games just aren't my forte.

Re: Ironic
I hate using the BoP strategy, I find it cheap.
It also promotes sucky strategy - you won't use your heard. And the BoP doesn't work on Universe/4D difficulties.

Re: Ironic
You brave, brave man. I find no heartache in using cheap tricks to beat a story driven game such as SO. Otherwise I wouldn't use Albel. :3
that is true, I mostly go for the "ALL FORWARD FULL!!!" strategy and attack with everything I have. Spam the shit out of the enemy, works well till they bring symbology into it.

Re: Ironic
I found him most awesome, I'm probably just a Crispin Freeman fanboy. I picked characters I liked, not by strategic smarts, otherwise I wouldn't have refused Roger or Peppita, I couldn't stand their English voices.

Re: Ironic
(late reply although better late then never) i h8ed this game coz the battle system was 2 me reli bad coz even though u were like miles away from the monster u would get hit so i stoped playing it but my m8 forced me 2 play it again and like other FF's ive gotten further then him quicker :L
Re: Ironic
Oh dear christ my eyes o_O.
What did the English language do to you to deserve that?
Anyhoo, I've said it before and I'll say it again: The battle system is *not* real time. Don't treat it as such.
It's ATB, but you can move around. The moving doesn't actually effect anything.

^ I agree and it looks like Nightmare is getting FF 12 mix up with White Knight Chronicles.

Re: Ironic
I love the battle system personally, I find it really enjoyable.
Also, summons are always useless, this game just makes it more obvious.

Re: Ironic

Re: Ironic
Yiazmat and Zodiark.
Zodiark requires you kill him *fast*.
Yiazmat is a giant, 50,112,254 HP punching bag.

Re: Ironic
neither of those bosses are that tough as long as you are leveled well and have the proper gambits set up, especially yiazmat, he just takes a long time to fall

An an off topic note: Can you please not criticise another member of the forums typing options, it may be taken as an offensive way to treat a member of this forum. If it affects yourself by the way that person types then please keep it to yourself. That is all.
Back to topic.
I didn't get that far in to the game to actually like it at all, it just didn't keep me interested.

This isn't IRC, it's not a race to get your post out, so don't type as such - especially if it impairs other users from being able to read your post.
Just saying.

Re: Ironic
I respect your opinions on that but, you could have stated it less offensive as I thought it would be portrayed as being offensive. You have to respect that some people may like to type like that.
Let's get back on to topic now.

Re: Ironic
yeah, I was the same way with FFX when I first got a copy of it, I thought the story line was great, but I thought that the combat and character improvement system was over-gussied up and almost impossible to learn, now here I am years later looking for another copy of it, because now I think i can get the battle system under control and figure out how it works.

Re: Ironic
@Kos-mos, you can't get a simpler battle system than X. It lets you go at the pace you want. Only problem is if you have too many monsters on the field. God, I wanna play International.....
@TW, any status enhancers you'd recommend for Zodiark? Bravery or Faith? :p

Re: Ironic
hmmm, Well you see, it wasn't so much the games combat system as it was that nightmare called the Sphere Grid. that thing was just like.............good god, WHY couldn't they make the character improvement system more conventional?

Re: Ironic
Because with the Sphere Grid, you have the chance to make all your characters goddamn tanks. Yuna could do 99,999 with a whack of her staff. The Sphere Grid is an acquired taste, the shortage of spheres goes away once you get around the end.
Anyway, found a good EXP spot if anybody's interested. Giruvegan has no traps that I know of and all the enemies are beatable from about level 50. Zodiac Spear + Embroidered Tippet makes for a fast level up. Only status enhancer I ever need is Protect.

Re: Ironic
@nemo: I went in without either, but to play it safe cast Protect/Shell, Bravery, Faith, Haste, Bubble before you go in.
Also, little trick: Go in with one character who's not in your main team. Zodiark starts with Darkja, which will kill this person, then swap to your main team.
@ The sphere grid discussion:
The sphere grid is simple to use - no offence but if you find it hard, there's something wrong. It also allows inbuilt challenges, such as NSG games, as you only level up when you decide.
@ The exp:
Up to about lvl 65~70, Giruvegan. Once you break this (Or even earlier if you're well equipped), the unlocked Henne Mines.
Abysteels + Embroidered Tippet = more than 6,000 exp each.
