Final Fantasy X Voice Acting Criticism WIP
Here we go guys. The big one. The show-stopper. Acclaimed by fans as one of the worst voice acted games in history. I may be exaggerating, since I personally, hold many fond memories with this game and its voice acting, but I will be do my best to be professional all through this review.
The following is based on opinion, it is not based on any fact. All the characters mentioned belong to Square Co. Ltd., Squaresoft and Square Enix.
Tidus - James Arnold Taylor
James Arnold Taylor, as most of you know, is my favorite voice actor purely and simply for the fact that he is the first voice I ever got familiar with in a video game and is one of the many reasons FFX remains my top favorite game. His other projects fail to disappoint me and I would gladly view anything that includes his voice, as it is like a lullaby to me.
Professionally, Taylor is above par in the range of VAs for Final Fantasy X, but not the best, as that becomes apparent when Gregg Berger or Matt McKenzie make an appearance. Taylor seems to have the habit of randomly hitting certain inflections correctly, and sometimes playing obvious to the fact that there is a microphone in front of him. His voice matches Tidus quite perfectly, and after hearing his voice in an interview, I found that he hardly had to change his voice at all to play Tidus, which is somewhat of a downer, because that means his performance had barely any effort. That being said, Taylor comes back in quite impressive lines at random spots in the game. He plays depressive rather well, such as near the end. Overall, Taylor has a performance of 6/10.
Yuna - Hedy Buress

Naomi Hunter's voice for Yuna...hmm don't see it myself. Unless if you mean for Lulu (although I found Lulu's voice was perfect)

Lulu was who i was mentioning. Although, no offence, the laughing scene chills me to the bone. oh god...

I know who she is but now that you cleared up who she should play, no. Although I do love Hale's work, her voice suits more "badass" females as opposed to goth like Lulu. I think Paula Tiso did fine as Lulu and was one of the voices that didn't make me cringe like Hedy and probably 3/4 of the cast even though her performance was effortless but it suited the character.
