your favorite games of all time
I had some extra time on my hands today, so I sat down and rated all of my fave games of all time. I rated each game based on gameplay, visuals, story, length, and characters. I listed a lot of games, but you don't have to if you don't want to
1. FF7-only downfall of this game is the polygon visuals, other than that almost perfect
2. Mass Effect-this game is epic, and from Bioware, amazing story and characters, a little short of a story
3. Dragon Age Origins-fun for hours, tons of possibilities, great customization, weakest point are the visuals
4. Assassins Creed 2-imo the most improved sequel of all time, not many weak points in this game, just all around solid
5. Chrono Cross-great story and plotlines, so many characters kind of waters it down
6. Lost Odyssey-most underrated game of all time, classic style of JRPG and a amazing story, the villain is kind of lame in this game
7. Halo Series-one of few shooters with an epic story, great multiplayer and online play, campaigns are too short
8. Bioshock-original story, and amazing visuals, not a great line of characters
9. Final Fantasy 9-good love story, weak visuals
10. Dead Space-scary as hell, creative combat, way too short
11. Final Fantasy 6-awesome story, some dorky characters, weak visuals
12. Gears of War 2-good story, but gameplay can be frustrating
13. Final Fantasy 12-good story, and good length, characters were lacking, slightly better than ff10
14. Fable-original and classic, no character development
15. Final Fantasy 10-epic story, but annoying characters and too short
16. Fable 2-didn't improve enough from first game
17. Borderlands-original and creative, awesome art, but story is weak
18. Gears of War-good, but not amazing
19. Brave Fencer Musashi-really fun adventure RPG, kinda goofy story
20. Spyro-just a lot of fun to play

Re: your favorite games of all time
1). Final Fantasy VII - Great story, back then the graphics were awesome, but when we play it now they just suck. Overall good game.
2). Metal Gear Solid 4 - Great graphics, put's all of the games storyline in to motion, and tells you everything you need to know. Lots of humour throughout.
3). Final Fantasy VIII - Characters were really good, personality of them intrigued me. The graphics were a little bit better, storyline was really good too.
4). Breath of Fire III - An all time favourite, Characters were really good, graphics were good back then too, creative storyline.
5). Fallout 3 - Customise everything about your character, the storyline was brilliant and it had endless hours of gameplay.
I'll add more later.

Re: your favorite games of all time
1) Suikoden 2 - Really good storyline, the graphic is pretty good, and wont get me bored playing it over and over again.
2) Final Fantasy VIII - First ff game I played and a really good one. Nice graphic, story, classic turn based battle, deep character development. Almost perfect
3) Parasite Eve - Original battle system, the story is pretty good but too short.
4)Okami - Very original and unique in many ways.
5) Drakengard - Power and Sacrifice, I think that is the theme for the storyline. Interesting battle system, since you can switch between air and land. Too bad the multiple ending is sucks.
I'll write more soon

Re: your favorite games of all time
1) Super Smash Bros Brawl - Its just my favourite fighter of all time, the bonus of Snake and Sonic too make this the best game ever (imo)
2) Sonic The Hedgehog - The game that started me gaming, from the shuttle loops in green hill to the strange crush-dodge Robotnik machine at the end this game will always be a classic for me.
3) Metal Gear Solid 4 - The last in the MG series, it ties the plot together brilliantly. With its tongue and cheek humour, little secrets and of course the fact its the final mission for Solid Snake this is one of the best games out there.
4) Final Fantasy VII - The Final Fantasy that got me into Final Fantasy, brilliant game, amazing story and the characters where very likeable.......then the spin offs came and they basically raped Cloud (seriously WTF!)
5) Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles - Before 3d gaming and dual layered discs this game was the stand point of gaming. With hours of game time, a save system, three endings and of course the first secret boss in Sonic gaming (making those damm emeralds worth collecting) this is by far one of my favourites.

Re: your favorite games of all time
I'm going to add another 5 to mine
1) Super Smash Bros Brawl
2) Sonic The Hedgehog
3) Metal Gear Solid 4
4) Final Fantasy VII
5) Brutal Legend - In my entire years of gamings I've got to say that this is brilliant. The tactic elememt does take time to get used to but besides that you can tell this game was made with love. With an awesome soundtrack, great voice acting (praise to Jack and Ozzy, aswell as Lemmy and Jennifer Hale (known better as Naomi Hunter), a stunning well designed world to explore and a humourous but well written plot I have to quote this game is " F***ING AWESOME!!!"
6) Sonic 3 & Knuckles
7) Final Fantasy X - "This is your story, it all begins here". Square always delivers a wide and wonderful world to explore and X was no different. The plot as always with a FF game is beautiful and had an ending which marked the second time I nearly broke down in tears over a game (1st time was FFVII but I was around about 9 at the time and it was a complete shock). Also who doesnt like Auron.
8 ) Madworld - Its just a big barrel of blood and laughs all the way with enjoyable and easy to pickup gameplay.
9) Metal Gear Solid - My first piece of Metal Gear action, I have such vivid memories of destorying a tank with grenades and of course PYSCHO MANTIS!!! ("You like Adventure games. Oh...you like the Legend Of Zelda" (Me "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!")) Glad it got a remake for Gamecube.
10) Legend Of Zelda: The Windwaker - The very first Zelda game I ever played I adored this. I loved the freedom of having an entire ocean to explore for both treasures and secrets of this beautiful cel shaded graphics. With the NPC re-releases to come to Wii I'm hoping this is one (Along with Luigis Mansion)
1) Super Smash Bros Brawl
2) Sonic The Hedgehog
3) Metal Gear Solid 4

Re: your favorite games of all time
10. Viewtiful Joe
What a fun, original and viewtifully awesome game. From its rocking voice cast including Dee Bradley Baker and Gregg Berger to its fun movie-esque soundtrack that helped give the feel that this game was a spoof on classic action films from the late 60's early 70's. Viewtiful Joe is so creative and shines brightly along side the rest of the Clover Studios Lineup of Capcom before it was shut down... assholes.
9. Crash Bandicoot WARPED
AH! Naughty Dog you clever sum'bichz. Crash Bandicoot already won peoples hearts from its fun and hilarious gameplay that will want you to just flat out kill yourself just so you could see the different reactions. Plus the 3rd one brought some fun powerups not to mention it gave the female gamer a reason to play for the uninteresting Coco Bandicoot levels ;B. The voice cast was phenominal before ND lost its rights to the orange moron to Universal and they turned Crash from that fun loving idiot into a current Sonic the Hedgehog ripoff which itself is already unoriginal.
8. Metal Gear Solid
Wow is the only word that sums this game up. The voice cast blew me away and the music was great. The story is the highlight of the game that draws you in like a vacuum even if it's just mindless dribble from Otocon or the asian chick who saves your game. At the time, MGS's graphics were top notch and dominated almost every other game for its time before Square got shittardedly amazing with both FF8 and FF9. If you have yet to play this or any other in the series, grab 30 bucks and buy the trilogy pack, it is a great deal and totally worth it.
7. Psychonauts
Tim Schafer has done it again with an incredibly creative platformer. Psychonauts was witty, fast paced, interesting and truly shows who creative someone can be. The unfortunate thing with Shafer's games is that they are way too short and you crave more after playing through the story and unfortunately there is not a lot of side stuff. But this game beat the previous 3 games because of its amazing wit, voicecast and soundtrack.
6. MegaMan X4
Ah, remember that point in the 90's when games started to add animated cutscenes then they recieved horrible dubbing? You realize they are still doing that? Good. Although MMX4's dubbing was so bad you wanted to rip your ears off your head, the gameplay is what really sucked me into this title. Plus when you're 10 and you play this game, HOLY SHIT ANIME CUTSCENES AWESOME LOLOLOLOLOL!!!! I love the powerups, I love the levels and X4 to me had the most creative and stereotypical cast of villains in MM history. Cheesy and classic.
5. God of War I and II
H.o.l.y.C.r.a.p. This... game... is... awesome! A great twist on Greek Mythology that is so satisfyingly brutal and bloody you trek forwad from begining to end to chop Ares' head off in the final epic battle with the God of War. God of War II was equally satifying with a ton of addons that GoW forgot to do in the first game. Its voice cast is AMAZING, so raw and full of talent. GO GET GOD OF WAR III, it's the last in the trilogy and I wanna see if Kratos, King of all Badasses (Yes, Kratos is the greatest badass of all time) gets to add more gods he has under his belt of killed immortals.
4. Sonic 3 and Knuckles
Ah, Sega Genesis... Before SEGA fucked up Sonic and made him a douchebag hero. S3&K is home to some of the greatest video game songs of all time with literally thousands of remixes then lets not forget Project Chaos which is free for download on their main website. Knuckles was the last of the great characters after SEGA decided to add 4+ new characters to every game which they never use ever again because they need room for their cookie-cutter characters Shadow and Amy and other douchebags. The Genesis is the real home for Sonic so grab a cartridge, blow the dust out of it, pop it into the system and use the 3 buttons on the side of the controller that all did the same command.
3. Okami
Yes, Clover left Capcom with a mighty fine and artistically beautiful explosion on the legend of Amaterasu but with a clever twist. The game was a great way to see Japanese legend with some fun gameplay, kind of boring action though, but to trek the large world was just a reward itself because there was so much to explore and to do. Reap the rewards, take on the epic bosses and listen to the wonderfully conducted music.
2. Pokemon R/B/Y
I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST! And god dammit I am! Pokemon is a whirlwind of a fandom that has made Nintendo even more filthy stinking rich, but before the extra 300 fuckers there were only 151 and they were home to the original Gameboy. This game is so addicting it's not even funny. You will sit with your gameboy planted against your forehead trying to get that last pokemon in your team to evolve or learn that super move to crush that asshole of a rival and become the Pokemon Champ to go out and find the mother of all Pokemon, Mewtwo.
1. Final Fantasy IX
Now this game was iffy with many FF fans but mainly the old school players loved the title... but I was just introduced into Final Fantasy when I first played it and it was just absolutely fantastic and still is. I love the story, the music, the cast of characters, the side quests, the battle system, the equipment and abilities system, the graphics, the CG scenes, everything! Yes there were some serious flaws but every game has it. FF9 I have to play from beginning to end at least once a year or I will feel empty on the inside. So fuck your FF7's, fuck your FF8's, fuck your FF10's and especially a big giant fuck you to FF12! FF9 is the dominating title imo.

Re: your favorite games of all time
my new #6--BioShock 2, I thought this one was better than the first, better visuals and locations, still had a solid story, and the multiplayer is really good

Re: your favorite games of all time
Viewtiful Joe would be in my tops, Can't beat the wacky attitude.
Re: your favorite games of all time
Changed it slightly
1 ) Super Smash Bros Brawl
2 ) Sonic The Hedgehog
3 ) Metal Gear Solid 4
4 ) Final Fantasy VII
5 ) Final Fantasy VIII - I must praise PSN for re-relasing it. Ok we know the plot has some holes but its not the main plot that I enjoyed, it was the love story between Squall and Rinoa. Out of all Final Fantasy couples I believed this couple the most, and especially love how Rinoa changes Squalls outlook on life (and of course everything on Disc 3 when he desperately wants to be with her was beautiful to me). Also after replaying gotta say, Junction aint as hard as most people made out to be (of course when I was young I had no clue)
6 ) Sonic 3 & Knuckles
7 ) Final Fantasy X
8 ) Dissidia Final Fantasy - Its just so addictive. Plus Cloud is no longer a giving up tosser like he is in Advent Children. Also the plot is fairly epic and the gameplay is brilliant and easy to pick up.
9 ) Metal Gear Solid
10 ) Legend Of Zelda: The Windwaker
1 ) Super Smash Bros Brawl
2 ) Sonic The Hedgehog
3 ) Metal Gear Solid 4
4 ) Final Fantasy VII

Re: your favorite games of all time
@Zack: depends on which version of MegaMan it is. Battle Network had a pretty ballsy MegaMan. Starforce has Omega-Xis who is infinetly more ballsy and badass than Zero and MegaMan Trigger from Legends is probably the most manly version. Zero turned into a douche in the MMZero series.
@Ry: One of the 2 main reasons I want a PS3. That and God of War III.

Re: your favorite games of all time
You can get it on the PSP as well, I think I'm an addict, I've stopped playing my PS2 altogether. v_v
Got my list.
1: Final Fantasy X, story, characters, and the battle system, was all just perfect for me. I still play it today.
2: Final Fantasy IV, first FF ever played (not counting 1, I watched my uncle play that one), Cecil remains my favorite FF character of all time.
3: Star Ocean: First Departure, good music, good battle system, and the story is captivating, replay value is kind of crap, though.
4: Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, awesome game in and out of itself, Joe is the kind of wacky, loose and fun loving hero we all need, gameplay is great and replay value is actually worth it.
5: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, I actually thought this was better than the original, maybe it's cause Zack is sometimes serious, sometimes not. Gameplay is great and the music is awesome as always.
6: Dissidia Final Fantasy, The only fighting game I've actually really, really enjoyed. 500 hours and I still don't have everything done. x_x
7: Dark Cloud, this game is one of those games that decides how hard it will be for you, depending on how much you pay attention. The gameplay is great, but tiring. Music is awesome and the story is...kind of hard to follow...
8: Final Fantasy, the original of my favorite RPG, how could I resist playing it and not love it? Garland remains the greatest FF villain ever.
9: Metal Gear Solid 3: Better than 1 & 2, imo, mainly cause of the camouflage system, made it harder, yet more fun than the previous two. You also control Big B aside from Solid Snake for the first time. Replay value is absolutely worth it.
10: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the most memorable game I've ever played, I still enjoy it from time to time on my Emulator.

Right along with you, except I'm with X. Although I can't wait till PSN releases FFIX, I actually enjoyed that game a lot, I beat Disc 1 and my friend wanted it back, haven't seen it since. The Cap'n wrote:FF9 I have to play from beginning to end at least once a year or I will feel empty on the inside.
Re: your favorite games of all time
^I think he was talking about Brutal Legend
Also Amarant forgot to say, fully agree with the Pokemon thing (151 was a good number, 490-something is just over the top) ahh the hours I spent trying to build the perfect team.
