Maid vs Host

Hiko stretched getting up and pulling on his everyday clothing yawing as he poured himself some cofee and wiggled an arm into the jacket sleeve at the same time



he finished breakfast and went to the bathroom tossling his wet hair, it always seemed to lay just right. he smiled and grabbed his wallet and cell phone with a little butterfly on the little charm holder. he smiled and opened the apartment door locking it and walking down to the parking garage. he walked up to the sleek motercycle and smiled throwing his leg over the side of it turning the key and zooming off towards her house. he stopped outside her door and reved the engine twice before getting off and pulling his motercross helmet off walking to her door with it under his arm knocking on the door

Hiru smiled taking the waffles... " ive never had Waffles.. much less chocolate ones... "

he chuckled taking a bit of one and moaned, swallowing quickly he grinned, " i love them.. "

he qickly ate what was left on his plate not realy leaving his mouth empty long enuff to talk.

when he finnished he sighed, " man... those are good... and yeah.. im ready to pick strawberrys. "

Marii relaxed feeling his larg hand wrap around hers... he was tall too... she looked up at his from the side and smiled.

" well your like one for me... you always show up when i need you most. " she smiled relaxing as she let her head reast on his arm as they walked.

" sorry for always getting in truble when you see me... " she said sighing.

" since its late... you want to come in for a cup of tea to warm you up... i dont have maching cups.. but the tea is from work so its good?" she profered him as they came up to her place.

" that way you can see my art... its the only thing making the appartment look good.... " she laughed nervously at the pure truth of it... all her furnature was either given to her or found on the side of the street....

she smiled after finishing her own and cleaning the dishes she grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the kitchen holding his hand "comeon! they are just over here" she said pulling him behind the house. the largness of the strawberry garden was almost astonishing. she smiled and handed him a basket. "oh so the trick is-" she said jumping off the patio and walking over tot he first row "grab with two hands hold the end of the stem and twist the strawberry a little then it just pops right off!" she said smiling at him holding up a strawberry that was almost the size of her fist "they are really good this year!" she said smiling proudly as she started picking strawberries boots sitting ont he patio watching them

Sayuri opened the door expecting to find Hiko but was a little confused about the helmet. "Hey Hiko-san," She said then found herself unable to keep from staring. The guy looked amazing, even in just causual clothing. 'What was I so worried about?' She thought then blinked realizing she'd been silent. "Ah sorry, I would have offered to let you in but my place is a bit of a mess." She said slipping n her other shoe before locking her door behind her. "Um, I would ask what the helmet was about but I'm thinking it's apart of that surprise you were talking about?"

Ryo looked back at her, trying to think wether he shuld say yes or no. No would be the more rational choice seeing as it was late and he didn't want to over step some boudries most women had. But he wanted to say yes more and see what happened. "Okay," He said then laughed, "Tea and art work. My kind of evening."

"a way to get to the suprise" he said chuckling, walking back to his bike holding her hand he put his helmet on and handed her a blue motercross helmet putting it on for her and shutting the plastic screne infront of her eyes smiling "safety first" he said and threw his leg over the bike patting the spot behind him for her to jump on

"its not to far form her and i promise not to go to fast" he encouraged knowing some people where scared of bikes

Hiru smiled and joined in picking the strawberry's after eating one or two him self.

Laughing he chucked one and hit Chi in teh back, " wops! it sliped chi!" he chuckled droping a full basket next to her.

" im gonna grab a new basket off the porch. "

Marii opend the door to her cramped appartment, you coudl see little of the old peeling wall paper, her monster like creations domanating teh space.

each diffrent form teh other she showed him her small table and grinned, " take a seat ill be right back.

Marii set up her tea pot quick and added the leaves, and set up two cups.

" you like sugar Ryo?" she called over her shoulder. "

she jumped when the strawberry hit her and she blinked and looked down at his basket "ok! " she said and smiled at all the strawberries and then looked at boots who wandered over to her. she sat down and pulled the leaves off the strawberry letting him bite into it "good eh boots?" she asked and he meowed playfully swishing hsi tail

Sayuri wasn't afraid motorbikes exactly. She'd ridden with too many of Ryo's friends, give or take a few of them had the driving skills of a drunk blind man, to be scared of them. She just was scared of the idea of dieing on one. For some reason or another she trusted Hiko's words and she slipped onto the back but hesitated a bit before wrapping her arms around Hiko's middle. When he started he bike however the noise made her jump and she held onto him a bit tighter. She blushed and muttered awkwardly, "O-Okay-Just not too fast."

Ryo looked from painting to painting in a bit of a daze. The colors upon colors, shapes forming firmiliar objects but seeming to create a scene of something that could be observed entirely different. He found himself looking at one of her paintings that hung in the small living room with particular interest. She said something, snapping him out of his daze and breaking his stare. "Eh? Oh, yeah sugars fine." He said then looked from her to around the room. "Ya know when you said monsters, I was thinking something along the lines of-well not this." He said and smiled in a thought. "These are cool." He was taking from these paintings and drawings and trying to find out what drew them from Marii. Maybe this was what his strange sense of curiousity was drawing him to, maybe learning more about her.

Marii set the tea on the table taking a seat adding sugar for both, not to sweet...

" the pictures... each one is an emotion at a given time... if you sit all the way back... even if you go from black and whit to color... all of them blend together.... one big image...."

she took a sip of her tea and smiled, " some... look mencing or sad ... some happy... Olivia said they are scary some times when she finds one that fits her emotion... i like to give them names even... "

she giggled, " i know... sounds a little silly... hmmmn... " she looked over at him taking in his full view... likeing the way his handsome fae seemed to fit in well even in her poor home... he coudl fit in any were.

Hiru smiled relaxing as he sat again across from chi over some of the slight bushes. " here"

he said holding up a smaller strawberry for her to taste, " go ahead take a bite for me chi. "

he took another strawberry with his other hand na dtook a bite him self. " today is great. "

Ryo's smile only broadened. "Silly, eh?" He said sitting back and taking his tea. "Call it lucky your able to use your emotions as a muse." He gave a shrug. "Alright, what's that ones name?" He asked pointing to one in particular that seemed a bit more vivid than the others in color, especially with the black.

" AH... that one, he was my first painting... he is curage...Liviathain. " her smiled wavered momentarily.

" other then the cloths on my back... he was the only thing i took form the house when i ran away from home." she shook her head, " i got a job while i was in school... and Liviathain perked Olivias intrest while she was visiting my art teacher and she gave me a scholership... he saved my life."

seh smiled at the old posterbord sadly, " Liviathain helped me out more then my family ever did. " she laughed a little too bitter before sighing," sorry... ," she smiled then.

" what got you started on your work?" she asked rather wanting to hear him talk.

chi blushed and took a bite then smiled brightly "wow these really are good!" she said and sat down taking a break "ahhh your right" she said leaning back looking up at the sky and watched the clouds rolling around "how pretty" chi said smiling

Hiko smiled and took off. it was nice having her arms around him. he took the long way that went across the beach. the waves where beautiful and he smiled glancing at the white sand and the beautiful blue water just to the side of them. he felt her grip tighter and smiled chuckling a little. when he sped forward he smiled as the carnival appeared infront of them on the pier. he pulled into the parkinglot and parked a ways off, he didnt trust crazy kid drivers enough to park closer to the entrance. that bike was damn expensive...

he hopped off and helped Sayuri off the bike smiling as he wrapped his arm around her waist and looked at the carnival ferris wheel that towered over the rest of the place "bet you weren't expecting this eh?" he said smiling as he let his hand slide to hers holding onto it as they walked towards the enterance.

he paid for two tickets to get in and smiled at her pulling her into the carnival smiling "what do you want to do first?" he asked looking around at the games, rides and corny attractions. he loved it all!!

Sayuri looked more like a kid in a candy shop at the point. Bright colors, sounds and best of all there was so much excitement everywhere. It may have been silly but this was the best surprise next to . Had she been expecting this? No she didn't expect this and honestly she was glad. "How can i choose there's just so much!" She laughed then something firmiliar caught her eye. "I know how about that, please?" She pulled him over to the bobsleighs (you know the one that spins really fast in a train sort of fashion. The sad part is I actually had to google that.) and looked a little embarrassed at how excited she'd gotten. "I don't know exactly what its called but it was one of the first rides my mom took me on when I was little. Its been my favorite ever since."

Ryo tried not to frown but as his eyes traced the picture he could sort of get a sense of what inspired her. To leave her home with nothing? That took more courage than a painting could describe. He should be the one saying sorry for bringing it up.
He was a little relieved for a subject change but the fact it was a question abut him he was no better at answering. "I don't really know, I always had fun just sketching random things as a kid and I guess those feelings made me want to hold onto it a little longer." He said and already felt a bit spoiled saying it. "We travelled alot with my dad's company so it wasn't like much else really stuck around." He smiled faintly. "Not exactly such an inspiring story." He shrugged, "But it got me this far." He gestured to the table and Marii. "And I'm pretty happy. What about you?"

hiko smiled and took her hand walking up to the line for the ride. he pulled her to the front of the line and flashed a laminated pass to the man who opened the gate for them and he smiled at her "im not a fan of waiting in line" he said and sat down pulling her next to him buckling her in and pulling the safety bar down "you ready?" he asked but before he could get an answer they jolted forward spinning around faster and faster

when the ride was over hiko laughed looking over at her. the bangs that lay on his face so perfectly all the time where blown in all sorts of directions he laughed brightly getting up and helping her up aswell

"ah! look at that one!" he said and grabbed her hand pulling her infront of the line at the 'gravatron' and smiled when they went inside and the board she was on shifted and he ssmiled grabbed her hand. even tho it was a wee bit difficult to move when they got off he smiled at her laughing and he looked around "ah... what next, swings or..." his eyes rested on ---

he smiled at sayuri. "im gunna give that a go" he said and ran over getting strapped in. by the time he got off his hair was pushed fully back. he laughed brightly "alright... after that one i might need a bit of a break..." he smiled at her "how about something to eat?" he asked "then we can play games till our stomachs are settled and start back up again" he suggested taking her hand and walking towards the food vendors "pick whatever you want" he said smiled

Sayuri was giggling to herself at Hiko's hair and shook her head to hide her blush. "Wait a sec," She reached up on her tip toes and ruffled his hair and found herself laughing again. The guy was like a big kid, except a kid that had a wallet and was paying out of pcket for her. She felt guilty but she didn't have the cash to pay him back. But she had to admit she was having fun, more fun than she thought she might have. "Hmm," She tapped her lip, "something sweet. Definately." She said and saw the funnel cakes and smiled pointing at them. "You wanna share one?"

HIko blushed a little when she fixed his hair "i'd love to!" he said and smiled walking up and getting one with lots of powdered sugar on it and smiled tearing a piece off and feeding it to her "yummy isnt it?" he said and smiled as they sat down at a table "are you having fun?" he asked and looked around the place "my uncle owns the chain of carnivals all over the place, so we get in for free and i have a special pass" he said handing her the laminated pass with his picture on it and the pass saying he had verification to inspect the rides. "he made this for me so i could goof off and not get in trouble" he said laughing brightly taking another bite of the funnel cake.

when they finished he threw away the trash and wrapped his arm around her waste and then walked over to the games section "wait one second" he said and walked over to the game putting down a couple bucks picking up the rifle looking at the 3 men standing next to him casually saluting them with his fingers. the men seemed to sneer and roll their eyes, both had camo clothing and looked like avid hunters. "ready. set. fire!" the man int he booth said and the targets came up. little ducks and rabbits running through the fake scenery

Hiko pulled the gun up to his eye and shot off so quickly it looked like he wasnt even pasing to aim. the blue paint splatted against the targets as the red and green went in all directions some hitting the targets.

"TIME!" the man yelled and hiko lowered the paint gun smiling at the other men. all but about 3 of the 15 targets where blue "WIIIIINNER!" the man said and hiko smiled pulling sayuri up to the table as the other men grumbled and walked off "which one do you want?" he asked her referring to the stuffed animals hanging in the booth

Hiru smiled injoyng the sun light... he had never been strawberry picking... his mother just orderd them or the kitchen staff had always just had some in the fridge prepared for him....

he smiled, " you know this is the first time ihave ever done this?" he said chuckling.

looking over at chi he grinned like a happy child, " you are the best girl chi. "

" i got started with my art... not because i wanted to ... it was supost to be an easy grade for school... and i just... fell in love with it... not all art... but... yeah. "

Marii smiled and relaxed looking up at the slightly cracked plaster on her cealing. she had an idea for his art work... she wanted ot wait though... to hold onto his attention for a little bit longer....

looking upat him she sighed," every thing is working out though.. some how i manage to pay things and get my work and job done... and now i have worked otu socal time too. "

she giggled, " this is the first time in a long time i have had tea with some one... i have never had the time when others did... " she closed her eye's thing, " im am very happy it was you who saved me the other day when i was sick... and tonight Ryo... you are something else... "

Sayuri was as shocked as the other two men that walked off and when he pulled her closer and asked her what prize she wanted she was at a loss for words. "um-ah-the puppy." She said pointing to the stuffed dog. It was an adorable likeness of a golden retriever puppy and when the guy handed it to her she held it close. "I thought he kinda reminds me of you." She said then her blush darkened. When did her words become so loose? It was like her brain was connected to her mouth whenever he was around. "That was amazing." She said, jumping topics to keep her from saying something stupid. "How did you aim so perfectly?-I mean did you see the look on their faces?" She said and then caught sight of a firmiliar game. Basket ball. "Alright, I bet I can score higher than you." She smiled and gave a small shrug. "Want to give it a try?"

Ryo felt a heat rising to his face. "I hope that's a compliment." He laughed though he actually was hoping it was. To have a girl like this, someone different from all the other girls he entertained day after day, take notice of him was actually an amzing feeling. "Well I'm glad to be the first to share tea with you in so long." He said and smiled. "This is great-your great Marii- Social time, whenever, I'm free if its for you." He wanted to shake his head and roll his eyes at what a sap he was being but he wanted to be honest with her. THe best way to do that was to say the first thing that came to mind. Even though it probably would make her wonder how he even survived as a host.

hiko blushed at the reference and smiled winking at Sayuri when she asked him and then smiled at the game "alright" he said and walked over putting some money on the table. "you ready to eat your words" he said to sayuri playfully ruffling her hair "dont worry if you dont beat me i do have amazing skill" he said confidentally but obviously sarcastically

Chi blinked "never? really?" she said and stood up looking at the sky "its going to rain soon... come on lets wash what we have, and ill teach you how to make my special strawberry jam!" she said and grabbed two of the full baskets after poking his cheek playfully and walked inside the kitchen

Marii giggled at this, " you are a strange man Ryo... " she smiled and bit her lower lip.

" kay .. i have a question then... i know i became a maid becuase the pay was good... but... why ever did YOU become a host.... " she asked slightly puzzled.

Ryo was good looking... he seemed smart and funny...why was he in that profetion...

Hiru grabed the remaining baskests and fallowed Chi into the kitchen.

he felt so lost... she keep coming up with so meany things he had never seen before...

" chi... do you know everything i dont know about?" he asked chuckling.

Ryo’s smile didn’t falter but he couldn’t help the failed attempt to keep the quiet strain from his voice. “The last act of rebellion I could think of.” He said and gave a tense shrug. “Long story short, my father always thought hosts were just a group of lazy men with no self respect and honor. Seemed like my kind of profession.” He said then decided he wasn’t being fair to her. She’d been through more, he shouldn’t be complaining about his parents. They were just trying to raise him, he was the one that caused them all the problems. “Also art schools expensive. Scholarships are rare and with my grades, it’s not exactly like they’re too confident in allowing me to study. So the job of a host has its benefits and I make enough money to get by if I just sit and deal with girls for a couple hours.” He gave a shrug. “Doesn’t exactly spell a bad job for now.” He sighed. “Well, enough of my ranting, instead of the depressing, what else is new?”

Sayuri placed the stuffed animal on the counter and couldn’t help a silent laugh as she shook her head. “I’ll try not to be too devastated.” She said as the girl behind the counter took the money and smiled at Hiko. “Alright whoever gets the farthest shot before the time runs out is the winner.” She passed Sayuri a ball and Hiko one and the two nets came forward with a creek. Sayuri rolled her eyes when she noticed hers was a bit closer and rolled the ball in between her hands.
“Alright, ready…set…go!” Sayuri tossed the ball and it went in the net and she smiled slightly. It moved back another 2 feet and she tried again. She sighed at the sound of the swish of the net and it kept going back further and further. It was a good distance off when she began to miss more frequently and she tried again when the ball bounced back. She shot again but it hit the rim and rebounded back at her. She bit her lip in concentration and tried again this time the ball rolling around the rim and fell in the net. The bell sounded and she laughed, a brief memory of playing with her friends when she was in the US coming to mind. She felt the small pang of loneliness hit and she looked at Hiko with a smile, waiting to hear who won. The two goals were back far enough that she couldn’t tell.

Hiko smiled when the women came back "she won!" the women behind the counter said picking up sayuri's hand like she was a champion boxer "WINNER~!!!" she yelled and hiko clapped smiling at her "why didnt you tell me you where so good at basketball? for an american sport its pretty difficult" he said smiling at sayuri brightly. he remembered that look on her face of sadness...

"sayuri-chan..." he said and pulled her close smiling leaning down so his lips where right next to her ear "i love you" he said and lightly kissed her ear before leaning back handing her the puppy and taking her hand walking towards the ferris wheel "this is my favorite" he said smiling

chi tapped her lip in thought and blinked "i.... i dont know how to pitch a tent... i dont know how to fix a car... i dont know what it feels like to be on an airplane... i dont know alot of book stuff...." she smiled "but what i do know how to do i do alot" she laughed picking up boots him making the funny panda face trying to get a treat she laughed giving him a straw berry and setting him down. imediately he ran over to coco and set it infront of her pushing it towards her with his nose meowing

chi blushed and giggled "look! " she whispered and smiled at hiru "hiru-kun they are so cute!" she said grabbing his arm resting her head on his shoulder

" new?" Marii thought for a second, " well i got the scholership again for this year"

she smiled, " i was amazed... they ususaly dont do repeats for that one.. but with otu it i couldnt go to school this semeser "

she bit her lip, " and i got a new friend in you Ryo, who is also an artist of sorts. " she reached over and pated his hand happily.

Chi only happend to metion things that she coudlnt do... that he couldnt do either...b ut... that was okay... maby he could learn them latter....

the two were getting along well... CoCo took a bite and then licked her lips mewing softly in responce.

" sure is cute. " he said looking down at the little panda girl reasting on his arm... how long will she want him around.... " most definetly cute... hope it lasts hmmn?"

"yeah!" she said smiling brightly taking his hand and pulling him to the front of the stove
"first thing first. we have to wash and carve out all the stems ok?" she said turning on the sink rinsing a strawberry taking a spoon pulling out the stem and plopping it into the sink looking at him "like that" she said and smiled at him handing him a spoon

"you get it?" she said smiling at him "give it a try "

Sayuri felt her heart race at Hiko's kiss and as she looked up at him now, she was very lost at what she felt for him. There was a space she was trying to keep but she couldn't help falling for him. "Okay." She said but as they got on the ferris wheel she held his hand a little tighter. She didn't like heights but having someone sturdy beside her calmed her nerves. "So why is the ferris wheel your favorite?" She asked looking at him to keep from looking at the ground.

Ryo smiled at Marii's touch and looked at her in the eyes. He didn't understand why he liked her so much but he was sure that the soft feeling of her touch was nice. "I'm glad to have yu as a friend." He said then his phone began to beep and vibrate. He pulled it out and saw it was a message from Miu and the time at the top of the message had him pause for a moment. Shit, it was already that late? "Hey, sorry but it's getting late." He got to his feet and then blinked. "Ah wait a sec," He tore from the sketch book he had and scribbled down his number on the scrap of paper, "It's not exactly the smoothest way I've ever given a girl my number but oh well, I'd rather you have it in case you need me to annoy you just a bit more." He said with a half smile. He didn't want to go, but he also didn't want to keep her up all night either.
