Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
@Cap'n, he's definitely an acquired taste. I still screw up his combos every now and then.
Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
I am giving praise to Square for not fucking Gilgamesh up. He is in every way the lovable bastard from the way he moves to what he says. His voice isn't good but it's starting to grow on me.
So the names of the 3 newly voiced characters have been released.
Gilgamesh- Keith Szarabajka
Hell of a fucking tounge twister. The man is known more for his film roles than voice over but he knows his way around a microphone. What I was shocked to find out who he is when I saw his picture. Ring any bells involving questioning seriousness and men in black tights?
Laguna- A. V. Kennedy
There is absolutly nothing on this man. Nada nothin'. I tried looking around but I couldn't even get a photo so I think he's new in the world of voiceover. IMDb even had nothing on him and those guys LOVE digging for actors and actresses in entertainment.
Prishe- Julie Nathanson
Julie is actually well versed but she hasn't really gotten that memorable of a role. She's done work for Warcraft, Megas XLR, Johnny Bravo, Psychonauts, and more.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Strangely the only new voice actor/actress who doesn't seem that good to me is Yuna's. However it has been a long time since she has played Yuna (since Kingdom Hearts 2) so maybe it can't be forgiven. When it came to Gilga I was the same as you at first Cap (in fact I remember thinking, "sh*t the Caps not going to like this") but he has grown on me aswell (mainly for his battle dialogue)
One thing I'd like to note is I think Tifa's english actress (can't remember her name) has approved vastly in this game since she was cast in Advent Children. However it may just be me being excited for this game and being too kind towards it.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Yuna's VA is the same as it was in FFX, except she has gotten older so her voice has changed...everyone seems to not realize that.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
They brought everyone back. EVERYONE. The Advent Children Cast, X's cast, XII's cast and XIII's cast. The only person not brought back to repeat a roll was John DiMaggio.
James Arnold Taylor, Gregg Berger and Hedy Burress have vastly improved from FFX which is great because all three did pretty awful in X. Awkward pauses, mixing character model emotions so sad reactions seem happy or angry seem tired and so on. I actually find Yuna barable from the quotes I heard from her so far.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Gabranth was played by Michael Rodgers in 12, but due to Square losing contact with him, they used the next best thing, the voice of Basch (Keith Ferguson). Unfortunately IMO His english accent suffered mildly from it, but its by no means unforgivable, and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference at first...
But overall, aside from Gerald C Rivers being hilarious, his voice is probably the least professional sounding. Regardless, I'd rather it be funny because despite Exdeath being the scum of the Earth in 5, he was preeeeeeetty hammy...
(Barring Yuri Lowenthal because I like most of his roles despite his FF4DS voice IMO being better by far. You can have your opinions, I like his roles.)

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
What I meant by new was "New to this game". (I did actually mention that Yuna's VA hasn't played the character since Kingdom Hearts 2)
Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
@Leon and Zane: Really? Huh. Well I'm retarded. I thought Keith was Gabranth in XII also. Oh well. SO THEN I TAKE BACK MY ORIGINAL STATEMENT.
AND NOW FOR ANOTHER MOMENT IN CAP'N AMARANT'S "Too Long; Didn't Read"
I agree with you Zane on Exdeath, we was a pretty overacted villain but the underacting by Rivers in Dissidia is laughably bad. Really, Bartz should be a little hammy too. V had a lot of really goofy shit. For fuck's sake, one of the most memorable quotes from the game is Exdeath shouting "TURTLE" and killing the fucking turtle guru. It's even a damn battle quote in Dissidia! The SNES/PSX version (Original Version), Faris has a laughably bad pirate accent and is constantly "Shiverin' 'er timbers" in the game and Galuf talks like John Wayne. Szarabajka is doing his best as the lovable goofball and what I think I can respect his voice for is that he's being goofy. I always imagined Gilgamesh with a very VERY booming voice, a lot more than Szarabajka (Again, John DiMaggio booming is what I was expecting) but still can be a ham. Szarabajka however can act and I'm really starting to like him. Sometimes he sounds weird when he lowers his voice like when he was speaking to Tifa but it's over done and fitting of his character. The way he speaks and yells in the cutscenes and in battle, he's really fit the part. Although I loved DiMaggio in XII, I think Szarabajka has made himself the true voice of Gilgamesh.
Anyway, got some news for you guys. The reviews for 012 are out on Gamespot and IGN. Personally, I think IGN is lacking over the last few years. They're not as critical as they used to be. Gamespot hit in areas that I agree sucked about the first game but it's hard to trust Gamespot after the disaster that they were when the reviewers were... corrupt. Almost as bad as the Nintendo Power reviewers. I know you'll all be happy with the positive scores. I'm waiting for Gametrailers but they're starting to get a little weak too.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Just figured I'd fill in some blanks.
My only problem with IGN was the fact that instead of being critical or overly praising of games, they'd list Ups and downs and slap an 8.5 on too many amazing or subpar games.
This is being remedied slowly, but I never really went with gamespot.
Another tiny piece of info,
an ability called precision blkck was added. Just block at the last moment possible and you can "Jecht block" 90% of attacks, with any character.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
"Kefka Papala...IT'S TOO LONG!" that line was killer.
I have to agree with everyone here, aftr hearing more of his voice, it's actually starting to fit.
SO! Duodecim releases in the states today, I'm picking it up after school ends, and will most likely post the voice acting review once I'm finished with the plethora of story modes.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Play.com have just got their hands on the legacy edition so they should send it off before the end of today and I will most likely have it on Friday.
As soon as it's mine I will save a replay of the Leon costume to show off, as I haven't actually found one yet on youtube.

UPDATE
Bugger someone already has...ahh well

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Okay, this game has a ton more to it than the previous game. Story Mode feels completely unorganized, but all the new characters basically steal the spotlight aside from the Reports section.
The chessboard is still a crucial part to story mode, you'll be sad to hear, but it's a ton easier to navigate and there's no DP to worry about. Instead, we get KP, which is easier to acquire and proves more valuable as currency.
Yuna...is my favorite to use thus far. Laguna is fun, but EX Burst is a bitch. Haven't even tried Tifa yet and Vaan feels pretty good battle-wise.

Tifa is better than Sephiroth and Cloud that is for sure, a FFVII character that isn't easy to read finally.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Gotta say the more clips I watch the more the voice acting of this game seems to get better. Especially for Cloud, who for his battle quotes sounds more like a cocky ass rather then a miserable git.
Just wish Play.com would hurry up and post the damm legacy edition to me >:[

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Completed the Twelfth Conflict last night, the story felt strangely uneventful, but I've got the 13th conflict to complete now.
My character analysis? Love using Yuna, Laguna and Vaan. Hate using Tifa with a passion, her hp attacks are just about as predictable as Cloud's, and much more difficult to hit with. Her voice acting isn't really a pleasure to listen to, but neither is Yuna's for that matter.
Laguna has just about the strangest battle style I've ever seen, but he's still so much fun to use. Vaan is just about perfect for any situation, his character hasn't changed one damn bit from 12, but at least I enjoy playing him now.
Anybody else noticing the amount of difficulty it takes to get PP in this version?

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Still not got it yet. Should arrive tomorrow (knowing my luck it won't).
Did get Prologus however, so that means I will have the Aerith Assist + the Amano Tifa and KH Squall as soon as I get 012. The gameplay's good, someone could have warned me that chase mode is insanely fast now (ok not insane but you get the point). Beat Arcade mode on Hard with Seph and have just been playing around with Cloud and Lightning. Might give Kain a try.
Dug up info on Helmetless WOL, he comes out next week from what I've heard for us in the UK and US.
Also gotta love Cid's sense of humour T_T
....still going to say Master though XD
