Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Zack is tha boss, he should be in it for sure, not that it would get me to play, but still, i wouldn't put genesis in tho, btw, most VA's in JRPG's suck anyways, for quality VA, you usually need to look towards the WRPG genre

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
His battle style would be WAY to similar to cloud's for him to be in it. Both use the same exact weapon. It is the same reason as to why Seifer isn't in it for FFVIII.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Genesis would be rape, although I wholly agree that he shouldn't be included for multiple reasons.
JRPGs have the best VAs I've ever heard, the Japanese have one upped Americans on many occasions in terms of voicing. And WRPGs have shitty stories.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Its coming from a person who desires story above all else.
I believe there was a misconception, Zack was referring to english games only.
And I do enjoy linear stories found in JRPGs but most people in america prefer WRPGs because of the amount of side content and overall lengthening of gameplay value. I think as far as VA, English are okay, but since the japenese are in their element, it is far easier for them to voice games, meanwhile the dialog must translated, interpreted, and transcribed to make dubbing possible, and so much of the "heart" and meaning in the portrayal gets lost in translation. That said, there are some pretty poor actors out there just as there are amazing ones.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Right, I'm talking on the basis of the English VA's of JRPG's, not the original Japanese version, since I have no right to judge their ability, since I don't know the language. It has nothing to do with the stories though, there are plenty of JRPG's that have amazing stories, I'm simply talking about voice quality, as I put story above all else as well, but good VA's can enhance a story that much more. For example, I believe the voice acting in Mass Effect games, and Dragon Age blows away a lot of JRPG's including Nier, FF13, FF10, Lost Odyssey...(just thinking of somewhat recent titles), as for Bethesda games, meh, some are ok, some feel lifeless, so JRPG's may be better in that aspect. The thing with JRPG titles is there is usually one maybe two good voice actors, and the rest either feel forced or really f-ing annoying.

Dude. Really? wow. You should get out of the psp more often. For one who desires story above all else you sure have a very small 'x-ray vision' for good stories since you missed a few last year {well if we're speaking Mass Effect, ps3 players got it this year}. But it's not too late to see some good ones this year to redeem yourself from that intangible comment you made!
I don't need to say much. Zack pointed it right with his comparisons. But I will say this, in both realms of JRPGs and WRPGs, there are good and bad in both, however, nothing Square has thrown since the dawn of the ps3 and x360 has even touched what Bioware has dished out in my opinion.

Ah, my bad. :/ And both of you have a point on the translation thing.Zack'sCloud wrote:Right, I'm talking on the basis of the English VA's of JRPG's
@Erel, if I could cut away the painful gameplay, I might be able to pay attention. The titles alone turn me away because a lot of the recent games shipped out by America are all about war or something that requires shooting the shit out of something or someone. I will admit, that the Fight Club-esque story of CoD: Black Ops was pretty amusing to watch.
And you do have a point that I am pretty biased since all I play are JRPGs, so some games that deserve a chance I just pass up since they are American, but I was stating my personal opinion on WRPGs, not my genre although I worded it immaturely.
Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Um. Call of Duty is not a Western Rpg. It's a shooter. And yu can't say they are the same. Lol.
Opinions on gameplay is fine, I understand if games like Mass Effect requires more intuition and involvement rather than pressing two to three buttons like FFXIII can be more 'painful' but you are arguing on a complaint you have on "redundancy" of shooting the shit out of people til they die that also applies to Japanese Rpg: magic the shit out of goblins or what not til their HP depletes.
And all RPGs have some kind of base with some war/conflict unless are talking about some Japanese Rpg that I haven't heard of yet. while japanese Rpg makes a fine line between good and evil in their way of telling war, western RPGs may have some grey and some choices with their telling of the conflict.
I'm not trying to be an ass but I really want to know why you keep making such 'bold' and as you word it 'immature' statements towards a genre that might be turning the tide for some Rpg gamers here.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
^Did me, too.
And don't worry, I understand where you're coming from, you guys are passionate about RPGs in general. I'm only passionate about JRPGs.
Although maybe it's because all the western games I've played don't feel like typical RPGs, the reference I made to Call of Duty was to show that's how all western games make me feel. I'm not big on a modern feel in games, futuristic or medieval has a decent feel to it, but nothing that follows today is something I like to experience in a video game. So, anything that involves today's world is just boring to me. That being said, I did enjoy Metal Gear Solid, although my original motivation for it was egoraptor's Metal Gear Awesome.
I'm going backwards and forwards here, confusing myself while I'm at it. We should continue this in a different topic, anyway.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
EDIT: [] stuff I would've posted but Nemo beat me to it.
[I think another misconception was made here.
Correct me if I'm wrong Nemo, but I believe you were refering to shooters as bland and making a side note of CoD: Black ops, not a reference as an rpg.
Also, Nemo just prefers Jrpgs to Wrpgs, and his opinion of them are relatively low. Please tell me if you feel otherwise, I believe a series of mis communications had happened.
But, My opinion is that Jrpgs are traditionally more story based and driven by plot, and a combat system and are more linear. Meanwhile, Wrpgs are traditionally driven by a plot and combat system, but are more focused on content and wide array of things to do.]
Really looking forward to duodecim
crappy slow typing...

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
You said his new outfit was his KH outfit, it's not. It's Amano's design, unless they're making DLC for Squall which would be stupid because DLC is getting on my damn nerves.
Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
It is lol.
Its is obtainable through the same means as tifa's DLC costume.
Square says they'll be doing DLC for Costumes and songs thats aren't in the game itself.

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
Bonus, new, it's all the same to me. Point is, DLC is bullshit. Not even worth the downloads, unless you think you'll be using it. I consider the bonus outfits basically insults, even with Amano's Tifa outfit. KH is good, but not enough to allow crossovers with spinoffs.
And Squall's only other cameo is in Kingdom Hearts, so if they're making people pay to have a new outfit for someone used so little, they're going to go with the outfit that gets the most attention. Otherwise, they would've left well enough alone with Cloud's KH outfit.

One thing that I hope they fix, is the Exclusive lvl 100 weapons. Cause I am really getting sick of seeing a Heaven's Cloud on EVERYONE...seriously I think I am one of the few people who doesn't use it at all...

Re: Dissidia 2 Confirmed
I almost never see that weapon, the weapons I see all the time are either Lufenian or Genji. The one I wish I never found, though, is the Ensanguined Shield, throws the epic part of a replay out the window.
Something I've been tustling around my head for a while is the save data bonus. Since I've been a grinder since birth, I think I might not choose it till I feel like it. I play games for hours for this reason, to obtain stuff. Although, I'm gonna inquire everyone as to what the secret accessory is. :p

Jecht summed up my feelings for Tidus being ON THE WRONG FUCKING SIDE!!!

Its pretty easy for villains to manipulate someone if their emotions aren't kept under control, he probably bargained for power to beat jecht and got trapped (Emperor Myes...)
