Crispin Freeman for Kain

(although...) It'd play directly into the type, and my best impersonation (not amazing, but...) sounds awesome. I'd say its an obvious choice...

But I fear they'll reprise his DS voice

The DS version is hardly worth mentioning anyway, but Square wants to save what little money they have left and most likely will reprise all voices they had from previous projects.

So Kain will sound like a douche, Tifa will sound uninteresting (good demonstration of Tifa, but I still find her annoying), Lightning will be fantastic, Vaan will *gunshot*, hopefully die, and Laguna, I shall pray for.

Quoted from tvtropes.org

"Americans Hate Vaan: Oh yes they do. But in Japan, fan demand and outcry was so intense that the new rep for FFXII in Dissidia Duodecim is Vaan, no matter what Americans may think."

I like Vaan aside from the rest of america. I think the hate revolves around the fact that he is rather effeminate and that he wasn't really "Main Character" material. The voice was an odd choice because their pick, because he was classically trained for stage productions, and became a movie actor by coincidence, never really voice acted before.

Honestly you said Liam O'brien was good some time ago but as soon as shippuuden came out, you reversed your opinion...

I liked Tifa in AC and she wasn't all that major in CC so, I don't see much problem here.

Lightning will indeed be awesome.

And I think Darrel Guilbeau would be ok as Laguna, but thats just me.

Voice Acting Criticism - Page 2 Empty Re: Voice Acting Criticism

I hate Vaan because he was just...there in XII, he was in no part the main character, just someone to look at while the story progressed. His femme side was not visible to me, he was spineless and dressed unusually, but that doesn't make him effeminate. His voice was terrible, regardless of whether an actor had no practice in that field, the same can't be said for someone like Peter Beckman who handled his role as Golbez like a pro. I would've much preferred Ashe, even though she didn't stand out much either, but at least she was interesting and her voice was bearable.

I was ignorant of what it took to be a decent voice actor when I first heard Liam o' Brien's voice, I found out that he always plays his roles with what could probably be called a growl, but it's more of a James Mason impersonation. As Gaara, it kind of worked, but it would've sounded tons better had he been more emotionless, or at the very least played a more struggled role instead of the growling teenager. He wasn't far off, but could've been better.

Tifa was just uninteresting to me as a character, she's basically there to give Cloud a pep talk whenever he needs one, which is 24/7. Loved her battle style, though. Very Happy

I never finished 7 so I don't know, but i'm not sure how her voice reflected in her manners.

But for Vaan, I played maybe 3 hours of XII so I'm not full up on him, but I liked him enough in the videos I've watched of the game. I stated why he's "generally" hated in america. The voice was just not a good choice, but since its a reprisal, it could either improve, or be the same. And the effeminate thing didn't bother me, and apparently some people didn't see it anyways.

I don't think he's right as Kain, but the "struggled" role is exactly what gaara was until the end of part one, but I digress. (Crispin Freeman)

Oh, and Bryce Papenbrook, was the son of Bob Papenbrook who was quite the famous VA at the time before his death.

Perhaps Bob Papenbrook was good at his job, haven't heard him so I'm guessing. But it doesn't mean his son can be near as good at it.

I want to mail a letter to Crispin Freeman to play Kain.

Bob Papenbrook was the voice of captain blue, Kutal from shinzo, Mega/octane from transformers, Zhang Fei from dynasty warriors, Lios from .hack, and Shelby/Woltar from star ocean 3 to name a few.

He was really good, but wasn't in mainstream shows so, don't feel bad. He's dead as of 2006.

But, could you think of a replacement for Bartz, and Onion?
Zidane would be easy.
