Re: Final Fantasy XIII
Just beaten it today. I haven't finished all the missions but had no real motivation to do it (except for trophies (yippy blimmin skippy))
My thoughts, ending was good. The characters where good, the plot was actually brilliant but seemed to slow down and then shot back up, and just when you want it to keep going. You've finished, just like that.
Battle System could be both a pain and a blessing depending on the mood of your AI comrades. Annoying that sometimes you could end up running into a enemies attack without tryin. Even more infuriating is that if the leader dies, game over. At least let the two AI keep going, maybe even throw me a Phoenix down if I have any in stock and revive me.
All over though a great Final Fantasy, I wouldn't put it up there with X (plot), VIII (love story) or VII (sidequests and extras) but it has its moments and deserves to be played.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
Hey I think it'll be badass to claim Platinum in this damn game, RyCloud.
FFX was probably the FF I can still play today. I don't even dare bothering touching FFVII, FFVIII or FFIX.
FFX-2 I can still play. I don't consider it as a real FF however. It's another spinoff like FFVII had freakin 40 million spinoffs that could've just been forgotten. To each's own I guess.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
In VII's defence, it did clean up alot of the plot holes by making those GOOD spin-offs
all in all XIII is a good game, but not one that you can play over and over again like the previous ones...at least SE made up for that crap called XII

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
What is this you speak of of FFXII????
*keeps looking at FF history and can't find... wait....*
Is it the one with the hott Bunny gal?! oh that one....
and All FF's spinoffs are fun to me, but not needed to make as much as they did with FFVII. Advent Children was cool to watch but it sucked all at the same time. If they ever did do spinoffs for FFXIII they better not over do it.
FFXIII Versus looks exciting though.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
ya i think versus looks cool, one big thing i want back, that i really did miss from ff13 is towns and a world map. I hate having to travel everywhere for hunts, or using stupid waypoint stones. The towns were each unique in the other ff titles and the only seperation in ff13 is gran pulse and cocoon, the rest of the areas are kind of convoluted and forgettable

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
On the thought of FFXIII spinoffs, if they make one, I can only hope that they just build up the current characters more andnot add like a few more useless and forgeateable characters like they did with FFVII. The gamplays were fun but the stories and the addition of blan characters made them less fun.
And if they are to explore FFXIII more, they should consider in trying it out in modern taste with the flavor of the past. *world map* *Aircraft*

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
totally necrothreadin this, but on the comment of no towns. The games story should tell you why there isn't. You're a pulse l'cie people would easily notice snow's and fang's brands and psicom or the corps soldiers would come. plus u do technically visit 3 cities.
World maps aka overworlds are a thing of the past. with the constantly improved graphics off ff's, walkin on a overworld would look ridiculous honestly. Airships are also becomin less needed as well, but this is all my opinion of course

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
regardless of being a l'cie or graphics, open world exploration is one of the staples of final fantasy and rpg's for that matter, as well as airships. They need to remember what made them so great in the first place, everything new isn't necessarily everything for the better, I stand on my dislike for the waystones, it is a stupid way of teleporting and most aren't unlocked until you finish the story. Also cities and towns just give the world around you a more in depth feel to it. I would argue that world maps are not a thing of the past considering mass effect and dragon age both used them, and look how successful they have been

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
okay i don't know about mass effect that much(PS3 user), but the selection type of map that DA has would be alright. Though the use of the paths exiting to new places would be pointless. Also to the towns, Pulse has none for one reason, no human life, since oerba was wiped out due to ragnarok breaking cocoon's shell(thats ash everywhere not snow). Cocoon also is a small floatin continent. you bascially travel all through it. Yes being a L'Cie greatly effects THIS game, so the developers took that into consideration.
btw the waystones are like DA's map if you think about it. and yes most of them open after the story but that is basically when the game begins.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
i understand what you are saying, i just simply miss being able to select towns that i wanted to visit like in previous ff titles, idk why that is, but is was cool and the waypoint should be activated along the storyline, not based on what marks you have finished

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
i do have to agree with your point about the waypoints, since most of the waypoint marks are quite difficult
